NSS Labs Raises The Bar On Malware Testing Via Mailshell LiveFeed Traffic Reputation SAN FRANCISCO, CA - April 20, 2009 - NSS Labs, a world leader in independent security product testing and certification, announced today its integration of Mailshell's LiveFeed traffic reputation system into its security tests of malware, exploits and phishing. NSS Labs aggregates web-based threats from a variety of sources, including partners and its own servers, and uses them to benchmark third-party solutions' detection rates and response times to social engineering-style threats. Mailshell LiveFeed identifies and quantifies traffic reputation for more than 40 OEM partners and millions of end users worldwide. NSS Labs has developed a unique proprietary "Live Testing" harness and methodology. Potential threats are vetted algorithmically before being inserted into its test queue. Threats are inserted and vetted continually 24x7. Unlike other lab tests, NSS Labs validates the samples before and after the test in order to ensure the most current samples are used. Actual testing of the threats occurs every two hours and starts with validation of the site's existence and conformance to the test definition.
